Alas, no photo

A peaceful and happily occupied day.  Mild enough to walk comfortably to and from Muswell Hill, inspecting gardens and door knockers.  Chose this year's seeds;  relying on the ever reliable Chiltern Seeds' selections: Cottage Garden Plants (smaller), Cottage Garden Plants (taller) and the unfailingly brilliant Balcony Mixture (slung each year over an assortment of window boxes, never ceases to impress).

Finished the Jane Austen biography, only to discover a family tree magnificently hidden at the very back - had I only known, I wouldn't have struggled to keep my own all this time, and those Georgians certainly knew how to breed.  No doubt my efforts were about as accurate as today's belated attempt at Sudoku.  For someone who has never had the remotest interest in numbers, I am quite astonished at how long I was absorbed - couldn't correctly complete a single one, mind.

The "I really should be doing something productive, shouldn't I" feeling [Your job - Ed.] keeps rising up from the depths.  I'll be there next month.  That's soon enough.
