I'm doing very well right now. Working four days a week, acclimatising to it more and more. Have convinced myself that in lieu of a fancy holiday after working flat out all year, that it's rather wonderful to have a mini-holiday mid-week every week. I go on longer and longer walks as I get fitter, with picnic lately. Perhaps I should take the camera. I have no proof of the heron and two swans I saw in Hyde Park, or the wonderfully headscarfed woman on her mobile saying "So I'll see you at the Conservative Party luncheon next week?" I am developing an expert knowledge of public toilets in interesting places (the gift shop at Kensington Palace is of particular note, should one require spaciousness). Sometimes I wear a pedometer, and my loopy record to date is 15,796 steps, which equates to 7.47 miles and a well-deserved marine ices double scoop.
The other week I walked to Kenwood and back, my sister said "Why?" but I rather enjoyed it. Found any number of fantasy homes I'd purchase in a parallel lifetime en route. There's no-one there looking at the collection of antique buckles or the portrait miniatures on a Wednesday. It's delightful, and I hope this phase goes on for a very, very long time.
xx
